The internet saw the posts. The screenshots went viral. But we wanted to know: what actually happened — and how did so many red flags seemingly go unnoticed for so long? 👀☕️

In this episode of Credentialing Chronicles, Shannen and Nyleen go beyond the viral headlines and take a deeper look at the story involving Angel Murdock and claims surrounding Duke University’s Physician Assistant program.

We’re breaking down the timeline, the online presence, the claims that captured people’s attention, the questions that followed, and the details that turned this into a viral conversation.

But this episode isn’t just about internet drama.

It raises a much bigger question.
We dig into the backend of the story and examine it through the lens of credentialing and verification — including the potential warning signs, inconsistencies, and opportunities for questions that may have warranted a closer look.

We’re talking about:

* The timeline behind the viral story and how it unfolded
* The Duke University PA program claims at the center of the controversy
* The public-facing information and representations that fueled the story
* The red flags and inconsistencies that raised questions
* Why assumptions are NOT verification
* The difference between someone saying something and independently confirming it
* What credentialing professionals can learn from situations like this
* Why dates, education history, professional titles, documentation, and source verification matter
* How social media can make an unverified claim feel legitimate simply because it has been repeated enough times
* The bigger patient-safety and healthcare implications behind proper verification

Because in credentialing, “it looks right” is never the same thing as “it was verified.”

This is exactly why Medical Staff Professionals, credentialing professionals, employers, healthcare organizations — and even patients — should understand the importance of asking the next question.

Where did the information come from?
Can it be independently verified?
Do the dates make sense?
Does the source support the claim?
And when something doesn’t add up… who is responsible for stopping and looking closer?

This episode takes the viral conversation and turns it into a real-world credentialing lesson about verification, accountability, documentation, and the red flags that can be missed when people assume instead of verify.

[00:00:00] Welcome back to Credentialing Chronicles Where we spill the tea on the doctors you see And we're spilling it baby all across America Well Nyleen and Shannon sitting there Talking about you while you pull up a chair Nyleen Oh my goodness Shannon I know you saw this woman All over Okay

[00:00:28] She's all over the internet honey She's got scrubs She's you know she's alleged rotations We have to use the allegedly in all of this Medical notes But Duke University came you know knocking So it's just it's crazy She's got graduation pictures In literally the front of the Duke Chapel The whole two year journey she has been capturing For two years But tell me why

[00:00:56] I contacted the facts All of them we haven't put them together And Duke said this woman never even applied to them Wait a minute wait a minute Not she did not graduate Not she withdrew You mean to tell me that she never even applied She never applied Never attended Baby we have entered a completely different level Of commitment to the story To the lie That is insane Because how do you complete A full school year

[00:01:26] Social media Exploration Explanation A program At a school Where I mean Where admissions office Never even received your application I mean That's crazy And it's crazy But as you'll see You know Duke was talking about They didn't even want to answer They was not confirming or denying But honey they came out And said that Yeah so Okay sorry Today we are not Just repeating TikTok you guys We each investigated a different part

[00:01:55] Of this whole entire storyline Because it's just so big And it's all about verifications And credentialing And things that we love And we have the receipts And Nylene is going to spill tea And you know She went down a whole social trail As she did Television appearance I mean just really looking at everything And what does the source That owns the information say That's what we're going to talk about today Right This discussion is based on Publicly reported information

[00:02:25] And records reviewed As of August 31st 2026 Okay The person implicated That has allegedly Angel Victoria Okay Has not publicly responded To any sources That we have located We have not Credentialed Done HR For her Not done anything We don't know her We have found No reliable evidence That she practiced As a PA Or even touched

[00:02:55] Any patient So this is all allegedly But we feel It's very important Because this is A perfect example Of how To Really care About what this thing Called credentialing Means And how By what we do Keep patients Safe So now that we Acted responsibly Shannon Can we get to the mess Please Please honey Bring me your first receipt Okay We had jackets made Y'all Nyleen says that She's the co-host

[00:03:24] Of pulling all the receipts So bring them to me mama How many state board tabs Do you have open Right now Nylene Oh Shannon Way too many And that's exactly why Our sponsor Bataan Health Exists Search Verify Monitor And keep the receipts Honey for the auditors BataanHealth.com Okay so First of all Let's talk about Some Netflix Okay Because we all Have Netflix Watch Netflix All the things My daughter watches

[00:03:54] The show Oh my goodness Well everybody Keeps calling this Love Island Yes Yeah yeah I don't know But it's the wrong island Apparently she appeared On Netflix's 2025 Temptation Island As one of the Temptrists Now she was a temptress Oh she is pretty though Okay So thank you Because the internet Has had this woman On every island honey Except Gilligan's Island

[00:04:23] Oh my goodness Well of course So here I go To Netflix's own To-do-do-cast You know Guide Not a gossip page But it's like a Page where Netflix Like puts the people On there And sure enough It lists her Age 25 Girl And do you know What it says What? Shut up It says PA school student Slash Airbnb host Okay Okay Okay Those are the occupations We are Okay

[00:04:53] Okay So the professional identity Did not just stay Inside of her Personal TikTok A global platform Published it As part of Literally her Official introduction Right? That is called Doubling down Girl Doubling down Yes Viewers saw the show Searched her Found The PA school content And everything Reinforced everything else Right? So if you go To her social media Now a lot of these

[00:05:22] Reality stars Like you know They get really popular Because people start Watching the show And then start Googling their lives Anyway Netflix says PA student Social media Shows them scrubs The bio says Duke People stop acting Questions Because every surface Tells the same story So you're just like Eh okay She's really She really did that Whatever Blah blah blah blah And all those services May be repeating One self-reported claim Right? I mean that's literally What you're saying Ten copies of the same claim

[00:05:51] Are not really Truly ten verifications Though are they? Right But can we not Discuss the irony Of everything This show was actually Called Temptation Island And apparently Somebody was Tempted to accept The professional title Without even Verifying it I know Yes Can we talk about Netflix Call us over at AQC before season three Because we will verify The couples The singles And their occupation Will give you Little files So that all of your Information

[00:06:20] Is correct baby Or how about we just Start a whole training Program Like how to Credential The people that you Are putting on your show I mean should reality TV shows be required To credential people I mean if they're Saying that they're A PA or a lawyer Or a judge I mean that seems Like something that Should be their Responsibility right? That's a good question And yeah They should be Verifying details Before putting Their jobs on there I know it makes sense

[00:06:49] Well let me tell you What the reporting says That she kind of Built I guess This was not You know one picture In scrubs With a motivational You know caption That one day She hopes to be A PA at the Duke This was nearly Literally two years Of content That appeared to Document a Duke PA school journey I mean lay out The reported content You know When you're looking At it It was like Get ready with me Videos Right? If we're laying it out

[00:07:19] References to Psychiatric and OB Rotations that she Was supposedly doing If we're laying it out Scrubs Medical notes Right? I mean and literally PA school study content What's in my PA bag? Did she have a friend That was in the program That she could get Access to all of this stuff? I mean that's That's commitment That is commitment We're just I'm going to use Your phrase again Doubling down Tripling down I mean a public Identity mixing PA school Real estate

[00:07:49] Airbnb host Like you said Influencing Right? Because like you said Once they get on Netflix Reality TV show She has now Right? Well one thing We can be sure of Is girl She maintained Continuity And she was making sure There were no gaps In that resume Are y'all listening To Nyleen? The academic year The rotation The study schedule

[00:08:19] The wardrobe I mean she got it down And it was in month Month year year Format y'all Okay This is for credentialing people Because we have to gather Things in a certain way For all of our patients That listen to But it's so funny Because this lady She really went to those Extent And that's why I guess people believed it Right? Humans often confuse Details with truth If a person gives us Enough small details Right? Enough pictures Enough content We assume that the big claim

[00:08:48] Underneath them Must be real I mean how many people Have fake cancer How many people You know I mean you know You see it We see it all the time Yeah Meanwhile Our credentialing MSPs Are saying Well yeah That's a really nice video But where's the primary Source verification Ma'am And they are saying that And that is what makes us All different Exactly Because When you're looking at it Scrubs They're not a credential Medical terminology Is not a credential I mean we've seen it All too often

[00:09:17] Even a bad shaped You know Object Is not a credential Standing on a university campus Does not mean That you're enrolled there And a graduation photo Is not a degree Alumni Told You know Inc That they Notice Inconsistencies Including people From older classes Appearing in a screenshot Program emblems In a screenshot The Program emblems Were also like A different color That did not fit And then

[00:09:46] Acrylic nails That alumni say Would not have aligned With their clinical expectations So this is people That are literally In programs Saying this You know They attribute these As alumni observations Not proven facts Though So all allegedly Interesting Interesting Because the details Would sell the story To people who don't know But the wrong details Actually are the ones That are going to help Unravel it Because I love that Nail thing Because if you're in Healthcare If you're in Nursing school And one of the

[00:10:16] Number one rules Is no nails So that's really Interesting And you know Here's where the story Becomes a group project Because a viral Reddit post Came from someone Identifying themselves As an actual Duke PA Recent grad And the poster Said The poster Said a classmate Discovered This woman's content While they were Actually in the program So I mean Can you imagine You're in the school

[00:10:46] You're like Wait She's in my classmate I know Imagine surviving The Duke PA School program Okay And then the algorithm Knows that And introduce you To a classmate That was never In the program That is saying That was your Classmate That's crazy And so then This classmate Reportedly commented Something like Well I guess Congratulations I did not know You were also At Duke According to the post She was then Blocked within Minutes No

[00:11:16] No That would make My investigation Brain literally Set off All the alarms Not because Blocking proves Anything But because It creates Kind of a Discrepancy That needs An answer In my MSP Brain Right Right So she's like Well what did I do To piss her off So the real student Goes ahead and starts Comparing notes And said They didn't remember Anybody seeing her In class Or on campus Or at any of The program events Or even socially

[00:11:45] And again This particular Cohort Right So this particular Group of graduates Is only 89 people I mean My graduating class Of high school Was like What 600 people I can understand 600 people You don't know Anybody But 89 people Right And PA school Is intense You know People are suffering Beside you You know Yeah yeah It is intense Especially when The claim student Is publicly Documenting you guys The exact same Program Right

[00:12:14] Still classmates Are not knowing her Is not our final proof Okay We can't just say Okay well maybe She was there Maybe she was the Quiet one Right You know I mean A person can be Absent Delayed Off cycle Or using even Another name I mean That observation Tells us To investigate It does not Really close the file It doesn't give us A do we recommend Kind of status Right Nyleen Right Well the internet Is the one Who found the discrepancy Because obviously

[00:12:44] The school had to Verify a Yeah The fact So you keep Saying something I mean This lady And like we said She was On it She was On it Yeah I mean It's just It's an incredible Story Nyleen I thought the story Would Have quietly Disappeared Because you know We had seen it And you know Our social media People kind of Research things And then things Come up And they're Watching it And they're like Um

[00:13:13] This might be Something that You need to Immediately make An episode about Like this has Become Um And so once The actual Students started Noticing You know No she did Not graduate I mean They told us Right It's not You know Exactly And the thing Is This girl It wasn't even Like a vague Graduation post Okay This girl Took a cap And gown Photograph Outside of The Duke Chapel And then Wrote about How much

[00:13:43] Late nights She had How much Sacrifices How much Setbacks And prayers That had Led To her Actually Getting That moment Or achieving That quote unquote Moment Yeah I guess You're right Because it's like The people that have been Watching her going through All this Now they're Being invited by her To celebrate Right With the cap And the gown And you know Everything I'm sure her followers Are totally invested In what she's doing Except the real Duke PA ceremony

[00:14:13] Happens on August 7th Duke says It honored 89 new Physician assistants The official event Was scheduled Inside the chapel From 2 o'clock To 3.30 And the actual Graduate said Her name Was not called She was not In the class Photograph That they kind of Took of all of them And they did not See her At the ceremony And the hood Or gown details Appear to be wrong Y'all

[00:14:43] Oh Now she used Her high school one Or bought a new one Or got it off A T-Moo I don't know The part The part that gets me Is the ordinary Evidence That was missing I mean Two years With no classmates Celebrating with her No faculty No cohort memories No white coat moments With the people Who were actually Supposed to Walking beside her Like it was just All about her And that is Meaningful content I mean But let us teach

[00:15:13] This correctly Right A real graduate Can miss a ceremony A real graduate Can take pictures later A gown can be wrong Somebody can hate Group pictures I mean None of those items All about her Proves that she did Not graduate Right True True So then what do you do What credentialing people do I guess You know I stopped staring At the photograph That we were looking at And I went to the stores That owns the education record Oh no I know I know honey

[00:15:42] So Duke Health officials Told incorporated We can find No record Of a student By the name Of Angel Murdoch Having applied to Or attended The Duke Physician Assistant Program There it is So she did not Miss her graduation According to Duke Girl she missed The application And she did not I lead I lead She did

[00:16:13] I mean That's the line Put it on the real honey Cause that's perfect I thought Duke Was the whole story But then I found Girl The real estate And undergraduate Reporting Here we go girl I didn't even know About this part Tell me Because be careful You know Cause I'm excited Well again Allegedly But anyway According to the New York Post They reported That she had claimed A double major In psychology And biology From UNC Charlotte The outlet Says UNC Charlotte Told them

[00:16:43] She did not Graduate And left Midway Through the Program Girl Oh my god We attribute That to the Post unless We have That is Unless we have The original University response But lord That is crazy That that's What Oh my goodness Yes Yes The post also Reported that She presented Herself online As quote unquote Licensed In North Carolina And Georgia Real estate

[00:17:12] Girl She posted About listings And closings And claimed Income Income From real Estate Work The outlet Said Neither State Search Public Database Showed her Under the Name Used So nobody Can find her So she She was trying In real estate First Okay And then She couldn't Get into Real estate And that Go through Right She had No real estate License

[00:17:41] But then Here we go She's just gonna Go ahead and Try medicine Like girl You obviously Don't know What you're doing Because we don't Play in medicine I know She don't Went to The wrong One And I Mean Did the Brokage Respond What did They say Well according To the Post Okay They They said That it Never employed A person By her Name Oh So yeah So now we Have multiple Professional and Educational claims Being questioned Like what

[00:18:11] That's exactly What we're Saying And we're Not saying She committed Real estate Crime Or earned Any money Or you Know I mean The post Itself Said it Was unclear Whether an Actual Transaction Even occurred Under her That's crazy This is why Our listeners Must understand Evidence Levels Guys Evidence Okay The Duke PA Claim Has a Direct Statement Repeated By multiple Outlets These additional Claims are

[00:18:41] Reported findings That we Clearly Attribute Unless we Obtain The primary Records Ourselves So we Are saying We found This Our third Party Site We're Just letting You know These are All the Statements That are Out there Because It's juicy Y'all It's juicy And we Gotta tell You I mean This literally Is hitting Credentialing You know Somewhere Around the Fake Looking Hood The Netflix Biography And a Two year Imaginary Clinical Rotation This Literally

[00:19:10] Turned Into A Credentialing Case Study For Us Because Almost Every Piece Of The Story Is Like A Beginner's Trap Right Trusting A Bio Or Trusting A Picture Or Just Trusting A Badge Or Maybe Just Trusting Repetition And then Going to The wrong Source To Obtain Your Backup Right Yeah Yeah Exactly I mean And you Know That's Where We're Going To Pause And Give People The Five Biggest Credentialing Lessons From This Investigation

[00:19:40] Okay Literally Nyleen's Got Them I Mean She's Written Them Out Y'all Get Your Pen Nyleen Nyleen Give Them Time Give Them Time Based Platform Helping Ambulatory Surgery Centers Bring Scheduling Clinical Financial And Patient Workflows All Together Schedule A

[00:20:10] Demo Today At HST Pathways Dot Com And Let Them Know Credentialing Chronicles Sent You If You Credential Hire Cast Sponsor Put Somebody In Copy Is Not Automatically A Verification A Graduation Picture Shows That Someone Took A Graduation Picture

[00:20:39] Scrubs Show That Somebody Own Some Scrubs They Got Some Good Taste A Badge You Know In A Video Shows That An Object Appeared In A Video Oh Well Even Actually A Beautiful Certificate Can Be Altered Purchased Copy Or Misunderstood True That You Know When Verification Is Required Obtained In You Obtain It From The Approved Primary Source Or

[00:21:08] Acceptable Designated Source And You Have To Retain That Evidence The Person Making The Claim Does Not Get To Verify Their Own Claim Okay So Documents Supplied By Applicant But The Verification Is Obtained Independently And We Have To Go To The Source In Order To Get It Got It And That's Not It Don't Matter Right Medical Netflix Lawyer I Mean That's Everybody

[00:21:38] You Guys Have To Know That's Everybody Yeah Certification Everybody Everybody So Okay So Duke Owns The Answer To Whether Someone Applied Enrolled Or Graduated From Duke Right NCCPA That Board Certification For PA Owns The Answer To Whether Somebody Is Currently Board Certified The State Medical Board Owns The License Record Yeah Credentialing Is

[00:22:13] That Make Up That Credential That Person All Right Break It Down So A PA Student For Example Admitted And Enrolled In The Education Program The Program Graduate That Means They Completed The Accredited Program PA C Means That They Pass The P A N C E Which Is An Exam That You Have To Take As A PA And That They Hold The Current

[00:22:42] NCC PA Board Right And Then They Have To Keep Renewing That They Don't Just Get It One And Done And See Yeah They Have To Keep Up You Know Continued Educations For That I Mean There Is Requirements To Be A Part Of That NCC PA Board Certification Okay And So That's Why You Have To Continuously Monitor That License PA That Means That

[00:23:22] Certified Physician Assistant Or Physician Associate You Want To Say That The Person Can Practice And See Patients Yeah And I Think The Reason Why We Want To Clarify This Is Because Some Of The Information That We Were Seeing That Our Social Media Team And We Were Looking Into It Is A Lot Of People On TikTok And Instagram Were Saying She Is Not Certified On The NCCPA You Can No Search Found And So This One Is Really Everyone Saying

[00:23:51] That She Is Not There So That Proves That She Was Never In School Like That's What They're Saying She's Not On The NCCPA So She Was Never In School No That's Not What The NCCPA Public Certification Tool Proves Right Right So NCCPA Verifies That Board Certification Status Now For PAs Okay You have To pass This Exam Right We know For the Nurses Is the NCLEX For the PAs Is the Pants PA NCE But The Issue

[00:24:21] Is In Reality As a PA You Can't Even Start Practicing Or Get a License Without That Board Certification So And Can Practice So Even Though Maybe They Graduated PA School They They Could Have Sat For The Exam But If They Didn't Pass It And Didn't Get Their Board Certification They Can't Become Licensed And They Can't Practice Exactly An Empty Certification Result Immediately After A Claimed Graduation Does Not Independently Prove That The Person Never Attended That School You Must Understand

[00:24:53] The Source And The Status It Verifies And The Thing That It Verifies Right Duke's Direct Statement Resolves The Education Question And Because We Resolve That Then We Know She Can Never Ever Sit For The Pants She Can Never Ever Have A License In Estate Right Correct Correct Correct All Right So Discrepancies Another Lesson Is Discrepancies Are Not Gossip Right They Require Documented Resolution The Wrong

[00:25:23] Hood No Classmates No Ceremony Appearance And A Block On Social Media Were Discrepancies They Were Reasons To Ask Good Questions And You We We Cannot Ignore Our Discrepancy But We Also Do Not Jump Directly To A Conclusion We Have To Think About Things Very Objectively We Document It We Contact The Proper

[00:25:53] Sources We Allow For Name Changes Or Off Cycle Things Because Things Happen You Guys We See Clarification From The Provider A Lot Of New Credentialers Do Not Want To Call The Provider I Don't Want To You Can

[00:26:27] Make To The Provider Seek That Clarification And Resolve It Before Approval Right And That's

[00:27:09] True Before System Access Before Pay Your Enrollment Privileges You Know All Of That I Mean That's The Big Thing Right Nailene Yes Because Social Media Really Shows How Quickly A Professional Identity Can Become Accepted As Truth When Nobody Is Checking It And You Know Really In Healthcare The Consequence Cannot Be We Found Out After Something Happened To A

[00:27:40] You Know It Protects The Organization It Protects The Payer The Profession I Mean And The Decision Maker And The Provider Girl And Apparently It Can Protect Netflix From Introducing Somebody To Millions Of People With An Occupation That Duke Says She Never Even Started I'm Just Saying Call Us Here Is Today's Public Service Announcement From Credentialing Chronicles Though Right Stop Letting Aesthetics Do The

[00:28:10] Job Of Verifications Right Right A White Co Is Not A License A Bio Is Not A Certification A Badge Is Not Primary Resource Verification A Graduation Picture Is Not A Degree Exactly And Whether You Are A Hospital Pay Your Practice You Know Staffing Company Software Vendor Podcast Sponsor Television Producer Or Dating Show If You Publish A Professional Credential Verify It Before You Amplify It Baby Please That's Our Advice

[00:28:40] To You For Free Girl But Temptation Islands You Need To Call Us Next Season I Mean We Don't Want To Be On The Show Because The Lord Knows I'm Not A Temptress I'm A Verificationist We Will Verify All These People Talking About PA Student And A Doctor And A Nurse And A Real Estate Agent And Airbnb Host And Anybody Else Arriving At

[00:29:10] That Villa We Will Verify The Resume And Be Like Fact check You Month Month Year Year Baby Don't Play With Us We Could Even Put Their Credentialing Status Next To Their Relationship Status However You To Primary Source And Unfortunately Your Occupation Can

[00:29:43] Tell A Convincing Story You Guys I Mean Especially When They're A Temptress That's What They're Supposed To Do Credentialing Does Not Exist Because Everyone Is Dishonest No It Exists Because Trust In Healthcare Must Be Suborted By Evidence Just Like A Diagnosis Must Right Right. The source that owns the fact must verify that fact. Yes. Every time before access, before enrollment, before privileging, you know, before everything, especially before anybody touches a patient.

[00:30:14] OK, so, ma'am, if you've heard us talk about you, ma'am, Angela Victoria Murdoch, ma'am, if you're listening, if you're listening, if you believe a material fact discussed in this episode is inaccurate, credentialing chronicles, welcomes the documented response. And we review verifiable records fairly. And we'd love to interview you and say, why did you do this?

[00:30:36] Because, girl, we we know you, you, you, you meant probably well somewhere. We want to know why did you did? Why did you do this? Like you poor thing. Like who was it easy? [00:31:05] Credentialing Chronicles is available on all major platforms, as you know. Tell us which receipt shocked you the most that we talked about.
